Where are the best places for shopping in Phuket?

“The foundation of life is food, clothing, housing and transportation. There are no exceptions even you are on vocation.”

When the first shopping mall in Phuket was completed, the locals wondered: “Can this business be sucessful?”. With the number of tourists increasing year by year (especially the number of Chinese tourists), shopping malls in Phuket are now blooming everywhere. Modern, traditional, civilian, luxurious, everything. Today, Cecilia takes you to count the good shopping places on the island. If you need it, remember to bookmark and like it!

1. Central Festival

Central Department Store, Phuket Town

Central Festival is located in Phuket Town. It is a one-stop shopping mall with more than 120 brand discount stores. It sells everything from silk to sushi, from clothes to electronic products, from books to home appliances. It is a local People also like to go to the mall. The second phase has opened as well, and more international brands and well-known chain restaurants have settled in. Compared with the Jungceylon Shopping Centre, which is full of tourists, it is undoubtedly more comfortable to shop here.

Tips:

– The parking lot is charged, but you can park for free for 3 hours with a receipt in the mall. Or it is recommended to park the car at the Home Work opposite Central Festival and then take the overpass from the second floor. This is free parking throughout the day.

– There are many delicious chain restaurants such as Kenny Roaster’s branch, MK Hot Pot and so on.

– Tax refund is available, please consult the clerk for details.

2. Jungcelon

Patong Jungceylon Shopping Center

Located diagonally opposite the famous Bangla Road in Patong, Jungceylon Shopping Center has completely changed the face of shopping in Patong. The mall is mainly divided into two malls, namely Robinson (a crisp high-end department store) and Big C supermarket. The commodities are relatively complete. After all, it is a gathering place for tourists, and basically you should be able to buy what you want. However, the price is not necessarily cheaper than outside. For details, please refer to previous articles: Why I never recommend tourists to stay in Patong’

Tips:

– The parking lot is also charged, and it is free to park for 3 hours with a small ticket.

– There are a lot of people there, so it is not easy to park. It is better to use Grab to take a taxi or take a tuk-tuk.

– Tax refund is available, please consult the shop assistant for details.

3. Phuket Old Town

Handicraft Shop in Old Phuket Town

Phuket Old Town is not only a picturesque and charming town, but also has many warm handicraft shops and clothing stores. Old Phuket Town is nothing special, if not outlandish. This is where the new meets the old, the weird and the ‘normal’ collide, so to speak. Strolling through the colorful historic streets, you can find local handicrafts, and many artists have also set up studios here, selling their works of classical and modern themes. Between the quirky and the pretty, there are plenty of little shops tucked away that will genuinely interest visitors.

Tips:

– It is recommended to go on Sunday, because it can be combined with the niche graffiti tour and the most distinctive Sunday walking street night market in Phuket.

– There is no need to worry about food, there are many delicious restaurants in Phuket Old Town.

– On-street parking, but parking spaces are scarce. You can consider stopping in the light market mall.

4. Talad Tairod

Phuket Weekend Market

The Phuket Weekend Market, known locally as the Naka Market, is located not far from the Central Festival. So even if you don’t plan to shop, it’s worth a visit here. If you ask what exactly is sold here? The answer might be, “How much time do you have?”

Tips:

– Located in Phuket Town, there are indoor and open areas.

– Open Saturday and Sunday from 16:00 to 21:00.

– Note that it is different from the Sunday Walking Street Night Market in Phuket Old Town, the two are not in the same place.

5. Karon Plaza

Karen Plaza shopping area

The Karon Plaza shopping area is a large indoor market-type shopping center located in the middle of Karon Beach Road on the west coast of Phuket, between Woraburi Phuket Resort and Moenvenpick Resort, about 350 meters, covering about 6000 square meters, has everything you need and don’t need. Karon Market is a market with concrete floors, neon lights and a corrugated steel roof. air conditioner. Like Jungceylon Shopping Centre, this market is mainly aimed at tourists. But even if shopping isn’t your thing, it’s honestly a good place for a night out.

Tips:

– Open until late at night, more time for shopping.

– “Low-profile version of Jungceylon” + “Weekend Market”

6. Phuket Outlet

Located on the feeder road of Phuket Town, selling guaranteed designer clothing and sports accessories at lower prices. In addition to Thai brands, well-known brands such as Crocodile, Guy Laroche, Hush Puppies, Warner Bros, Pierre Cardin, Van Heusen, Levi’s, Lee, Nautica, Adidas and Nike are all 30% off. But to be honest, the geographical location is not well chosen, and this outlet does not give a commission to tour groups, so there are not many tourists here.

Tips:

– Business hours: 10:00 – 21:00

– There is a large free parking lot.

– The location is inconvenient, but locating the outlet by car is not a problem.

– There are not enough brands and there are fewer types of products.

– There are only one or two restaurants.

7.Boat Avenue

Although the number of restaurants on Boat Avenue far exceeds that of shopping malls, the quality of the shops is really good. Several stores sell good goods bought from Europe by specialized buyers, as well as local high-end clothing brands. Generally speaking, the brand of Boat Avenue and the prices of its shops are the most advanced. Of course, this is caused by the surrounding environment, because Bang Tao Beach is a wealthy gathering area in Phuket, where a large number of five-star resorts and luxury private villas are located.

Tips:

– It consists of open-air independent shops.

– There is free parking.

– There are many good restaurants.

– The price is on the high side and there are few tourists.

8. King Power Duty Free

King Power Duty Free Phuket exudes charming charm with its unique design. Three-dimensional depth of field and flood lighting are used on the exterior of the building, reflecting the shimmering Andaman Sea. The interior of the building is painted a contrasting pearly white, with smooth lines to simulate the flow of water. In addition, the design skillfully incorporates Phuket’s unique Sino-Portuguese architectural style, adding a unique splendor to the building, which is impressive. King Power Duty Free Phuket offers a wide range of world-class branded products. In the Thai product area, visitors can also browse and buy leading Thai brand products, as well as carefully selected local specialties in Phuket.

In fact, there is nothing to say about the King Power Duty Free Shop, one is in Phuket Town and the other is at the airport. In fact, there are not only King Power Duty Free Shops on Phuket Island, but also The Shila Duty Free Phuket, the first overseas branch opened by a Korean consortium, but the location is inconvenient and there are few tourists. Friends who need to buy duty-free goods, I still recommend King Power, after all, it is local.

Tips:

– There is a parking lot.

– If you take a taxi to King Power, feel free to bargain with the driver! Because they all go to the duty-free shop to collect the commission, and the commission may be higher than the taxi fee.

– There are two King Power Duty Free shops. One in Phuket Town and one at the airport. The King Power Duty Free Shop at the airport is open 24 hours.

9. Other

What is other? It is a large shopping mall similar to supermarkets such as BigC, Tesco Lotus, Home Pro, Power Buy, and Home Work. These shopping malls mainly sell daily necessities, with restaurants, banks, etc., aiming to serve the local people. But this does not mean that tourists are not suitable to go. On the contrary, I think these shopping malls are more worth visiting, because only in this way can they be more down-to-earth and feel the life of local people.

Finally, there is another type of shopping mall that Cecilia has not mentioned, that is, those “shopping malls” where tour groups specifically cheat tourists. There are many on Phuket Island, and they are basically concentrated near Chalong. They generally sell jewelry, watches, hand accessories, latex products, and various inexplicable health medicines. I won’t introduce it in detail here, you can figure it out yourself.
